We haven’t talked about our recent state-of-the-art. We keep adding features incremementally, but sometimes forget to take stock. So after another year of improving what we do, and even releasing FlexMeasures 1.0, here is ann update on what we support, but also on how we can support you.
Energy sites are becoming more complex. A battery might operate alongside EV chargers, heat pumps, boilers, solar panels and industrial processes, each with its own constraints. At Seita, we help organisations optimise this complete picture.
Most of the projects we worked on had actually just one flexible asset per site – that was simply what we saw. In the last year or two, we have gained practical experience with smart heating, batteries, EV and V2G charging, and the orchestration of mixed sites.
Our capabilities now also cover multi-commodity systems, where electricity, gas and heat need to be considered together – for instance when planning the operation of a CHP, heat pump and shared heat storage.
We are also bringing energy sites closer to the wider grid. This includes support for OpenADR and aFRR, passive imbalance management and community energy management. We are also still interested in open protocols towards assets, like the S2 standard.
These capabilities allow us to orchestrate mixed sites containing batteries, EVs, V2G, heat pumps and industrial equipment. Our experience with smart heating has also taught us that good optimisation depends on good forecasts: knowing when heat will be needed makes it possible to produce and store it at better times.
Technology alone, however, does not make an energy optimisation project successful. Every site has different equipment, data, operational requirements and commercial priorities. Seita therefore provides expert onboarding and ongoing support throughout the project:
- Modelling the site, its assets and operational constraints
- Connecting device, market and forecasting data
- Selecting the right optimisation goals and flex-config
- Testing scenarios before going live
- Supporting integrations, monitoring and further improvements
We work particularly well with edge and IoT specialists. They provide the local device knowledge, fast controls and customer experience; Seita provides the forecasting and smart scheduling capabilities behind them, which plan ahead. This allows partners to make their existing solutions more intelligent without having to develop an optimisation platform from scratch.
Our services are powered by FlexMeasures, our open-source technology, as most of you probably know by now. But how can we help you using it? In two ways: It can be used through our hosted API or deployed independently, giving partners freedom to integrate, extend and operate the technology without vendor lock-in.
In short: Seita combines intelligent scheduling technology with the expertise needed to turn it into a successful real-world energy service.
